Hugs to all for the coming holiday
« on: November 23, 2013, 02:05:38 PM »
I just wanted to wish everybody on this forum a survive-able Thanksgiving week.  I haven't been extremely active in posting here, but I have read quite a lot, and it's comforting.  Thanks to all who share stories, successes, failures and valuable tips.  In spite of losing my husband last May, I am definitely thankful for much.  It just gets overshadowed occasionally, as I'm sure you understand.  Good wishes and hugs to all of you....Diane

Thank you for all the support and hugs. I made it through, and wrote a little journal about how it felt:

Hey Diane, I read your blog and I thought it was very nice. I really understand what you mean about not having your husband to complain to. Talking to the dog and cat about my bad day at work is not helping. This is my very first Thanksgiving and Christmas without Anne. We went to the beach for Thanksgiving which is what we always did. It was very bittersweet. Christmas decorations are up just the way she would have done it. Thanks to my sweet daughter. I can feel her warmth. I say bring Christmas on too!

Here's a hug from me as well   (((((((Diane)))))))

Thank you Robbie,
This is my first holiday season alone, as well.  It is difficult.  I find myself just coming to this forum and reading whichever comments are new.  It's somehow comforting to know that others share my feelings.  I am glad your daughter is there for you.  My two daughters will be home from college tomorrow, and that will bring noise to the house once again.  I wish you a balance during the coming days - people when you need them and quiet when you need it, too.  One minute at a time...((((Robbie))))

It hit me tonight. I hate the way that grief makes me feel handicapped - I can't laugh with others, I can't speak much, I can't answer "what's wrong?" or "Are you ok?" without crying.  I hate that I feel within my core that I shouldn't burden others, especially when I am so fortunate to have others that want to be there for me.  The first holiday is really hard, everyone knows that little bit of wisdom, but just feeling the brunt of it tonight.  Glad I have people here that I can 'unload' to - where I don't feel like a 'misfit'.  Thanks, all of you.
