BIRTH - By Lesley

Floating in nothingness
Suspended in time
Completely content in my small world
Curled tight and safely away
From outside fears, oblivious,
Approaching that waking death
When the life-line is snapped.

It was at that moment
That my languid existence was
Shattered forever as I was thrust
Into that white sea, screaming
From naked gums at my fate,
Trapped in a helpless body
From death into immensity
I am born....

Thank you.  Lesley was  - shall we say - 'uneasy' about life right from the start. Why? Because those who were supposed to care for her did the exact opposite. Most of her poems throughout her life relected that very fact.

Helene.
