Daily accomplishments
« on: August 09, 2009, 09:04:24 PM »
I thought we could list all the productive things we did today. This can be an ongoing list if you want. I was thinking maybe it's good to acknowledge the positive steps we're trying to make. Even if they seem like small things, doing something small is better than nothing.

* I unpacked a couple boxes. This sounds simple but it took all my energy to do it.

* I tried to get all the knots out of my hair. This might sound crazy but I've been in a depression since my Mom's death so I haven't been combing the knots out of my hair. I wash it, I just don't detangle. I tried doing that tonight. I have waist long hair so it was a chore!

* Did some banking things I was not looking forward to. I'm glad my Mom's name is still on all the accounts.

* Took a long drive and did deep breathing techniques.

My daily accomplishments for Sunday:
finished painting the new grandchild's bedroom (son family lives with me since Mark's death)
washed  and folded some baby clothes
fixed dinner
worked crocheting a baby blanket
starting to work on the new school year project list

Since the baby is due in three weeks (due date is Mark's birthday) I have been helping to get ready for the baby. Gives me a purpose each day.

You know, I think this is important to do. Thank you. Since I really haven't started today, I will talk about yesterday (Sunday).
1) got vacum cleaner bag out opened it and looked for the earrings I sucked up in it. I only found one. bummer. Mom and Dad gave them to me.
2) took shower number two. I was so dirty from the expedition
3) entertained children including the neighbors boy.
4) Got a DS and working on Indianna Jones game. Level two is driving me nuts.
5) worked on Dads scrapbook for myself.
6) made dinner
7) bathed one child
8) went to bed.

Sun - went out to breakfast read the paper
did some shopping
went to the bookstore had a good conversation with a person
called my girlfriend
talked to my step son
did some light cleaning in the house
looked at maybe getting a new lawn mower

in looking back early on its really something compared to sitting and crying all the time barely able to move but I wish I could feel more whole and complete

* Made my stepdad an extra special breakfast.

* Went back to bed for only 2 hours this morning instead of my normal 4-plus.

* Went to the grocery store.

* Went to the pharmacy for my stepdad.

* Bundled their phone plan and internet service to save money.

* Sat in church for a few minutes.

When my husband died I wanted to make sure I didnt fall into a depression and get back into a bad habit that I had, I have panic disorder and its very easy for me to slip. So I make sure I try to do something very productive each day. Getting out of bed and getting the mail with my fingers crossed was a very big chore for me in the beginning because all the bills were rolling in and usually meant I couldnt pay something, but then it started to all come together, that was a big accomplishment.

I think a bigger accomplishment for me was to go down to the city for my mother when I got the call that she was dying. Its a 4 hour drive, a drive I have NEVER done without my husband by my side. But my mother was waiting, waiting for me. and she did, one hour later she passed, and although is was a great acclomplishment for me, my mother was gone, it was bittersweet. But she knew I made it and she let go and went to be with my father.

So now when I get up in the morning, I really dont rush to do much, the day takes on itself. believe me LOL.  ;)

This can end up being an interesting thread.
Today I went to work, came home, thought of supper for mum in law and me, made supper, enjoyed supper and now on WH. Weekends are more busy as I do all of the housework.
As I said this can end up being a very interesting and enjoyable thread.

This is such a great idea.

Monday

- I went to work at 8. Had a pretty decent morning, started going downhill after lunch, went home an hour early. I survived!!

-  Came home, ate an early dinner sitting on the sofa watching TV. Promptly fell asleep sitting.

- Woke an hour later, permanently bent at the shoulder, will never walk the same :-)

- Had a visit from my dad, gave him a lecture. He went home and I called my mom (they don't live together but spend several hours together every day).

- Mom and I talked about our plans for a trip in early September. I can hardly wait, but am so anxious at the same time. Our destination is a place both Fred and I loved.

- Now I'm winding down in preparation for bed. I hope I get to sleep early.
