Yahtzee game
« on: January 04, 2009, 01:24:42 PM »
Dan and I used to play Yahtzee and Scrabble alot. It was fun to just sit with him and play a game that also had a positive effect on his math and spelling, though he seemed unaware of any academic benefit.
Today I found our Yahtzee game up on a closet shelf.
Dan wrote "me" and "mom" at the top of the score sheet, he had also made various doodles on the paper, and next to some of the scores he wrote "good job mom" with a smiling face. At the bottom of the sheet, he made a heart with mom written in the middle of it. I was in the habit of dating anything he had written or drawn on, this one was from 1980 when he was 7.
I really, really miss my boy.
Love,
Annie (Dans mom)
Much love,
Annie (Dans mom)

((Annie)) I'm so happy for you to have found that from your darling son. I made Craig save a piece of sheetrock when he was redoing a room because Adam had doodled on it! Amazing how precious these apparently insiginficant things have become to us once our child(ren) go to live with the Angels!
XO Love to all my sisters & brothers-in-grief XO
Wishing you all peaceful moments, signs from your Angels & many blessings

That is a treasure you found! I would love to have our score sheets with Chad and myself. We played Yahtzee also, lots of cribbage and many other games, I loved scrabble, hubby and I play that with the girls but Chad never cared to much for this one, he had to think to much lol. Thank you for sharing this and bringing back good memories for me.

I know how much you miss playing with Dan. I envy you found this and love what Dan wrote on the score sheet!

Our kids are loved and missed always.

Love Deb

Boy when we find these little things, which are big things to us, it sure does warm the heart and bring back those beautiful special memories.

I'd put it somewhere safe and where you can look at it anytime you want... maybe even doing something with a shadow box and some yahtzee pieces like the dice....

A real treasure for sure.

Oh Annie - what a wonderful discovery! My nephew Chris used to play Yahtzee with my parents - Chris loved all games, card games, board games.. your sweet memory of sharing that game with Dan brings back memories of Chris for me too.. and I love the fact that he wrote "good job mom" and made a smiley for you..how sweet!

As Jeanne says - a real treasure (both the find, and your sweet Dan).

hugs, Karen
