Yahzeit Candle
« on: December 15, 2008, 06:55:49 PM »
We light Yahzeith candles on the anniversary of the death of a loved one.  This candle lasts 24 hours.  I lit one on Sun and it is still burning.  It comes in a glass so that it will not burn over and ends at 24 hours.  It can be purchased in the Jewish section of the grocery store.  We say a prayer over the candle but last night I asked G-d to watch over all our children and make sure they know how much we all love them.  This type of candle helps me and anyone can buy it and light it.

Rebecca, I light the Yahzeit candle on the 6th of every month to mark the date that Adam left us to live with the angels. Because I think that it is a symbol of respect & remembrance I light one even for the christian members of my family who are deceased. It is for Craig's Dad, Mom, Sister and Niece. I think that he likes that I do it (he doesn't say). I grew up with my Mom lighting them for her Dad, Mom & my brother (who died of childhood leukemia at the tender age of 7 in 1955) on their angel dates.
XO Love to all my sisters & brothers-in-grief XO
Wishing you all peaceful moments, signs from your Angels & many blessings
