Alek's 22nd Birthday

Today was Alek's 22nd Birthday.  I was a total wreck for the entire week!  Crying deep down from my soul.  Then today, my sisters and step daughters went with me to the cemetery to put birthday balloons on Alek's grave - I was tense and worried that I would break down in front of the girls.  Well, we pulled up and there were Alek's buddies standing out in the cold all around Alek's grave.  It's been three years.  I just couldn't believe it.  I was so touched.  It filled me up with a calming sense and I knew that Alek is not forgotten.  He made a difference in his 18 short years here.  I was so proud of him.  To have made friendships that last even when you leave.  That is really something.  I am so thankful to those boys (Men now)!  What a gift they gave me on my babies birthday.

Happy Heavenly Birthday to handsome, forever young Alex.  I bet he's a spectacular addition to the Heavens.  I'm just so sorry, Marianne, that you are without his physical presence here on Earth.  But he's with you, whispering on the wind and sending his love.  Patiently waiting.

My Dear Friend (((((Marianne))))),
I am so sorry that your precious Alek is no longer in your warm and loving arms.
I did light a candle on the 28th to remember all our beloved angels.
It does bring some comfort to know that your beloved son will not be forgotten and he is remembered by his friends.
I know that I have not been here much, but you are one of those precious friends who helped me so very much when I first "joined" this group after the death of my daughter, Danielle Marie...I am truly grateful for you too!!!

Marianne - sorry I'm late but Happy Heavenly Birthday Alek! I did not remember that Alek's birthday was so close to Christopher's - Chris' 22nd bday was yesterday. I hope they were celebrating together in Heaven.. how wonderful of Alek's friends to come and remember him..

I wrote a poem for Chris - which perhaps is appropriate for Alek too - so I'll share it with you:

and the way you made us shine
