Update
« on: September 09, 2007, 08:07:42 PM »
OK its been 4 weeks since I broke my foot. I returned to work 2 weeks ago....not my usual job but a desk job. It kept me from feeling so depressed and worthless. At any rate, last week when I saw the doc, he said there were no signs of healing. Told me one more week and we would have to make a decision. I am sick of being on crutches, I need to either be able to walk in this boot, or do surgery. I just feel like I am getting no where. I see the doc again tomorrow, wish me luck, cross your fingers, and pray that this thing will move forward.

Many prayers for you and a good report on that foot! (Please Lord, let that foot heal!)  I know you are weary of it all at this point. Let us know what the doctor said as soon as you know. Big Hugs-Lonnie

Saw the Doc today and once again, no sign of any new bone growth. He said we have 2 options.....duh....option 1, continue to wait and see if it will eventually heal. or option 2. _ Surgery which would require a screw and a possible bone graft. Neither of which sound especially fun. I told him I didn't care what option we went with as long as I got to get rid of my crutches. So he said fine, no more crutches, can go back to full weight bearing on my foot, with my metal boot, for one week. See what happens. He said my pain tolerance would be the deciding factor. Right now it doesn't seem to bad. But how much longer will this all take? Four weeks and no sign of healing?????? This could go on for months. Maybe I should just opt for the surgery. My dad had a good point. Why not just do the surgery now, instead of waiting, and then end up needing it in the winter. How fun would crutches and a cast be in the winter with ice and snow on the ground. I don't know, I guess I have some serious thinking to do.

Oh Man-that is not good news!  :o  I wonder why it isn't healing? And then there will probably be a long recovery time if you have surgery also. I just don't know what to say. I am just so sad about this. I know those crutches drive you totally crazy!!!!  ::) Bless your heart, I hope you can make the best choice. Take a few days to think about it for now. Hugs-Lonnie

Lonnie,
you are great, your like my own personal cheering section. Thanks for your support! ((((((lonnie))))))) I will take time to think this thing out. Thanks for the advice! Per the doctor, its not healing because it has bad blood supply. Look up Jones Fracture if you want on the internet and it will give you some insight.

Sweetpea: I know that message was for Middle Sis, but I claim it also! My downstairs is totally flooded after a construction mishap today. They hit a water pipe outside, while demolishing our decks for reconstruction, and we didn't find it for awhile. Then we noticed the carpets in the family room, bedroom, foyer etc. were soaking squishy wet. It is 3:00 a.m. and they didn't leave until around 1:00 a.m. (trying to use the machime that sucks the water out of the rug.) Someone will be here at 8:30 to try to fix the pipe. For now, we had to turn off all the water. Can't flush, can't shower, can't do anything. I have been through so much lately, that this was the final straw. I had just worked on my house from top to bottom (cleaning and decluttering) and now everything is totally trashed. We will have to get new carpet and padding, etc. We are just exhausted, and I really wonder how much more I can take. It seems to be one thing after another, and it just gets to be way too much. I have hardly cried since my dad died 2 years ago, but tonight I howled. :'( I'm just tired of everything going wrong. There are a lot of other stresses right now too, my Christian daughter (18) has been staying out all night, and of course, I care for my widowed mom, and I have lots of health problems myself. Please pray that I will be able to pull it all together (the house and myself). I almost don't have the will any more.  :'( Thank you so much for your prayers, and those words of encouragement to Middle Sis. Hugs-Lonnie

Dear lonnie, I am so sorry for everything you are going through right now, but remember that, it's alway's darkest before dawn and that your sunrise will come!!!!! things are looking bleak right now, but a change is going to come. Believe in these words and hang on to them with everything you have!!!!!! your house will get fixed, the carpets will dry, the furniture will find it's rightful place, your Mother will be just fine. Your christian daughter....well ....well... we  will just leave her to God cause he knows how to take care of her.  :D  laugh  Just take a deep breath, everything is going to work it's self out!!!!!! just like you comforted me in my time of need, I hope with the Lord's help I can comfort you!!!! We are here for each other.  I am praying for you, dear sister of mine that you will have a soft place to fall, to rest your thoughts and sleep well to start your day anew !!!! :D :D :D :D

Sweetpea: What a blessing it was to read your note! Your little faces made me laugh out loud (which I desperately needed to do). I receive your words of comfort and encouragement, and I thank you for them so much! What would we all do without each other? When one is down, the other can help him/her up. The Bible says, "Two are better than one", and I have found it to be true! I DO have a soft place to fall. The motel I am staying in is one of the older ones in our town, on the bay, and I am actually able to sleep peacefully there. (Thank God for miracles.) It is the off season here in NW Florida, and things are a little slower, so not as much noise as the crazy summer crowd. Thank God for that motel room where I can go, and read my Bible, pray, watch tv, and forget for a little while this calamity! ;D The blowers are still going back at the house...but the insurance adjuster said that we can be reimbursed for carpet in one bedroom and a hallway, so every little bit helps! Tomorrow we will begin looking at carpet. Step by step...Thank you again for your sweet words my adorable friend! Lonnie
