Be safe and at peace. And thank you so much for yelling our children's names into the wind. You've brought tears to my eyes.

The week right after Alex died and I was surrounded by my family, my little sister who I'm really close took care of me. When she first got to my mom's, we hugged for a really long time. She kind of chuckled while we hugged. Later she told me that she could feel Alex behind her with his arms over her arms while she hugged me. She asked me if that sounded like Alex because she lives in another state and didn't know him all that well except for seeing him at holidays and such.
That's exactly what Alex would do if two people were hugging and he wanted to be a part of it. He called them sandwich hugs.
The other thing that happened that first week was while I was out to dinner with my family. I felt someone put their hand on my shoulder and thought it was my brother next to me. It wasn't him, so I looked behind me expecting to see the waitress. She wasn't there either. I know Alex was there with his hand on my shoulder.
