Hello Diane,

I'm so sorry for your loss. I too lost my husband very suddenly. It is a very difficult time for you and your family. See how your daughter wants to handle her day. She may surprise you with plans of how to include her dad for this special day.

I'm so sorry for your loss. This is such a difficult journey. I lost my husband 20 months ago and if it were not for the kind, loving people here on web healing, I'm sure it would have been even more difficult. The one thing that helped me here was to talk. It gave me an outlet for what I was feeling and provided me reassurance that what I was experiencing was a part of the grieving process. Visit here as often as you are comfortable visiting.

I agree, the second year for some reason has been harder. Hang in there.

Arthur, I'm so sorry you are going through this at this time.  You certainly deserve to be treated well and kindly and if you were Terry said, maybe this relationship was not meant to be.

On the headache front, it just might be time to get another opinion about them. As always, we need to take care of ourselves.

Way to go John!  :wav:

You are brave to say your weight from and to...I won't say how much I do weigh, but I can report a few more pounds down. 27 now!! It is hard work, but worth it for my health.

I am so sorry for your loss. You will find that the people here on this web site are very kind and understanding. Early on they helped me get through the day. They helped me to understand what I was going through was normal and I wasn't crazy.  In addition to all the good advice you have received I would just suggest that you not compare your grieving process to that of others. While it is true that we sometimes take a few steps backwards in our journey, it is totally normal, but not everyone experiences the same things. Try to take good care of yourself and take things one at a time.

Hi John,

My experience of going through that first year taught me that the "countdown" leading up to the anniversary was much worse than the actual day.  I spent the day with my sister who took me out to dinner that evening. I'm at 19 months and counting. All of these "dates" don't get easier, but they get different. Just the same way our grief does. We still grieve for our loved ones, but how we feel in that grief keeps changing.  I'll say a little prayer that a month from now you will report that the day wasn't as bad as you thought it would be.

((((((((John)))))))))) These firsts are all so very difficult, but my experience is the days leading up to those firsts were worse than the actual day. We learn we get though them. I'm so sorry your trip didn't work out and that you had an accident. i hope you are feeling better. As we get older we all need to be more careful and watch our health.

Take Care

It's the same ole answer...smaller portions, cut out most sweets, lots of veggies to fill you up. But don't cut out the sweets if they are important to you, just have less, otherwise you may feel deprived.

That was not a man. He was the scum on our shoes. What a small minded idiot. I work with adults who are developmentally disabled, including some with CP. I love these ladies. They keep me coming back each week. If they decided they couldn't pay me I would be back there next week for free. They are so sweet and loving and anyone who cannot see that does not have a ounce of heart in their body.

Hi everyone,

Wanted to touch base and let folks know I'm doing ok. I have my days (as I know we all do) when I do not want to do anything or I find myself teary eyed, but they are less than they used to be. I have lost 23 pounds! As I shared with some of you I have found much comfort in food and knew I needed to stop doing that and I feel so much better for it. Next week it will be 18 months since Ben passed away. Today, my church was running a clothing drive. So, after church today I grabbed a large plastic bag (it actually ended up being 4 bags) and began emptying the dresser next o my side of the bed that contained some of Ben clothes. It was packed so full that it was hard to open drawers, but it all was either donated or tossed...and I only kept two pieces. I had not left myself much time to get the bags down to the church, so I only had one hour for the task, and that seemed to make it go much easier than I anticipated.  There are still other areas to tackle and things to complete, but for now this felt like a really big milestone.

If you are in the northeast, I hope you have been staying cool. And I hope everyone has been and continues to be safe in all the weather related events that have been going on.
