Title: Emotional triggers
Post by: rayinsc on March 24, 2012, 05:26:30 PM
This evening our pharmacy called and asked for my wife.  I told with little emotion that she was deceased.  The woman on the other end was taken aback, then gave a heart felt 'I'm sorry' and told me she would deactivate my wife's account.

I returned to my desk and told myself that I was making progress.

Then a few tears started to come as I recalled our last visit to the pharmacy.

As was our usual custom, when on errands I would bring her along.  This was a brief visit and I intended to leave her in the car as I picked up her meds.  This time she said she wanted to come in with me.  Now at this time she was very weak and unable to walk long distances of stand for any length of time, but she insisted.

So off we went, walking very slowly as we entered.  Once inside there was a long line.  A young woman saw us and said to the others, to let us go to the front.  We were immediately taken care of and slowly left.

The tears are for the compassion of the young woman and others there that day and for my wife, who was always the trooper and an inspiration to me.  They were tears  of joy and sadness and my loss, then they stopped.

Ray

Thank you for sharing that with us. Lets me know that I am not crazy in thinking most people are good.
