I'm so glad I did this and wanted to share this idea with you hoping that you may try it and share what happened with you.

Aww, thank you for saying it's a great idea.  I think if someone can't write in a journal this is perfect.

Oh don't forget you have to read your note to your spouse then put it in the bottle.  Some of my notes make me  :icon_flower: and others make me  :tearyeyed:

I miss Lou with all my heart and soul  :tearyeyed:

Always,

Me and my kids have been doing something similar.A balloon every Saturday with messages written on it from us all.It was the kids who thought of it and it always makes them smile particularly when its windy and the balloon floats off high into sky.At christmas n New Year we used chinese lanterns with messages  for Davie (poor guy he'll be getting fed up with all the reading hes got to do nowadays lol).It was a beautiful sight to watch the lanterns light up the sky.Made me sad but happy at the same time.
     Thanks for sharing

I do that too with the balloons every 22nd of every month, and other dates too.  I write what I feel all over them front to back. When I let them go I say to Lou take them to Heaven.  I watch until I can't see them anyone.

The lanterns is a great idea too.

Hugs to you and your children.

Always,

Lisa

Messages in bottles, balloons floating up into the sky are beautiful ideas and very romantic. My one is to write a letter, read it out to Tone and then burn it and let the smoke and ashes carry it up and away. All very similar and lovely.

Thanks for sharing.

I realized today that I'm doing something similar ... less tangible than a letter or a bottle, but a message to Kit nonetheless. Often when I pull out my pipes I will play "Dark Island", a tune I learned especially for her years ago, and the tune that I played at her funeral and later at her memorial dedication.

John

p.s. Sorry I've not been posting much recently. I'm not in a good place - Christmas, followed by Kit's birthday in January, and now Valentine's Day - I feel like I'm barely coping. Almost two years now and I still miss her so, still feel the loss like a newly torn wound.

John, I'm pretty much in the same situation as you. I don't say much because there isn't much to say. Why should I repeat the same things over and over?

I don't have any plans, no hopes or dreams for the future. I feel like I'm just stuck where I am. Just using up good oxygen. I seem to function OK at work, that's about it.

I have not been able to write to my wife in months, I was writing to her everyday twice a day. Now has become to painful. I think most of the numbness has worn off and I can only write on holidays when I go numb again. I hope to be able to write to her again someday just right now I can not.

John and Dave a very kind and wise preson said to me the other day to keep writing and talking even if it is the same things over and over again. I think we keep writeing about the same things until we nolonger need to talk about them. I was for the last week or so feeling as you both do. I was not writing not really talking and it really did not help me or change anything. So I am back now trying to do what I have been doing for the last several months. I know sharing doesn't take away the pain but it does help when we know we are not alone. At least it helps me.

My thoughts and prays are with you.

Jason

Haven't been posting much either.  Same thing...feeling low these days.  Feeling brittle, fragile...barely coping.

I am going to look up the tune "Dark Island."  Thoughts and prayer for you, John.
