Title: Where is everyone from?
Post by: Terry on June 28, 2010, 10:17:12 PM
Hi All!

This is a good way to find out where everyone is from so that if you choose to, you can meet up, which is a wonderful experience!

We have a thread started on the child loss forum, also and I thought it would be a good idea to get one going over here, too!

The Main and Sibling Board...all the boards really, I notice there is such a strong support system for one another. You share so much and with such consistency, it is really heart-warming to see the care and the love you all have for one other! You guys are awesome!

Much love,
Terry

Hi,

I'm new and haven't been able to tell my story yet, but I'm from a suburb of Chicago, IL. I think it would be great if we could meet someone that lived in our area and we could get together and help each other.

Hugs,

Dittos

Like Pete (UK) I lost my husband June 2008 and haven't been here to much lately.  I'm from Northern California and yes, my life has been a living hell and doesn't seem to be getting any better.  I have read that the second year is the worst (don't know why) but with each passing year it has gotten worse.  My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Joyce, life does get better. sometimes it just takes a while. The lonliness probably will always be there but the despair & grief lessen. I think the reason the second year is worse is because you're basically still in a fog the first year, trying to survive and put your life back together and move on alone, surviving holidays and anniversaries and special days alone. The second year is less about survival than living and moving on and trying to make sense of your life. I think the next years are "easier" as the struggle lessens.

ScottW - yeah Cubs! I still dream that they will win the Series during my lifetime so that gives them another 40+ years. One can only hope.

Thanks Autumn for the words of hope and survival, they are appreciated.  My life just doesn't seem to be following the "normal" (whatever that is) track of grief.  I remember many, many years ago a very dear friend of mine husband had died 7 years prior to the question I asked.. which was "Diana... are you happy?"  to which she replied "I haven't had a happy day since Wayne died."  I remember thinking how terrible for her to feel like that.  I felt so sorry for her.  Now that's just how I feel.  I have not had a happy day in 2+ years.  She passed away in June and I didn't grieve for her because she was now happy.  She believed, as I do, that I will see my husband someday.  That day just can't come soon enough.

Peace,
Joyce

Hi Sara! I'm 'West Central Florida' and hoping that we don't get a west-coast hurricane. I'm hoping the east coast doesn't get hit this year, either. I used to live beach-side (Ponce Inlet) and we used to go out on the pier to watch the space shuttles take off. What a view!

They're already naming the storms to be. :icon_pale: Stay safe and on high ground!

Riss...some years back I was planning on moving to Missoula. Montana is a gorgeous state. So is Idaho. Our family has a little plot of land in Darby, Montana. Things changed, as they always do and I'm still down south.

Just remember though that we're only a keystroke away from each other. That thought has brought me comfort on some very lonely nights. :love9:

I am from northern Wisconsin, about an hour north of Green Bay (GO PACK).

My husband and I lost our son nearly 3 months ago; it's been very difficult.  He died in a motorcycle accident, and his only sibling (brother one year older) is really struggling.....so we grieve one son while worrying terribly about the other.  Everyone on this message board has been so helpful and supportive - and I don't feel as if I'm alone....many have experiences similar to my own.

Sending love and hugs to all -

Vicky

Im from the Boston area and still have home outside Atlanta too as that was where my spouse had been living in recent years to be nearer her sister. I commuted back and forth for 10 years. Right now trying to keep both places as I cant really say goodbye. However, i have not been back to the Georgia house since the funeral 3 weeks ago. Im afraid of going in there with her gone. Nuts?

I lost my wife of 43 years to Ovarian cancer on May 29, 2018 after a 2 yr. battle She was my best friend and the love of my life. I feel so empty inside, at times I can barely function. I have read several grief related books in the past weeks but so far they really haven't seemed to be of much help. The pain is always there, the tightness in the throat, the tears that never seem to stop. I try to stay busy at work or when at home in the yard, my mind never stops thinking of her.

HI Jmorm53, welcome to webhealing, I'm sorry for your loss. A lot of what you are experiencing and going through sounds a lot like what I went through with the loss of my wife Gina last year. I also tried to keep myself busy and it seemed no matter how much I kept myself busy she was always on my mind. Even though she was always on my mind keeping myself busy helped as working around the house like when I was planting the vegetable garden last year I would get glimpses and pause and experience a happy memory of previous years. Every year about the same time I would be doing my usual vegetable gardening and she would be doing her flower gardening. While turning the soil last year I would look over at her favorite rose bush and stop for a few minutes and remember her trimming it. Then moment later go back to dwelling on my loss. I know it's rough now Jmorm but it will change. For me last year that constant feeling of loss subsided and I found I had far more happy memories with Gina then I originally thought. Now I still have Gina on my mind quite a bit everyday I hardly ever have that feeling of loss any more, but has become more of a thankfulness that she was a big part of my life because of all the happy memories and things I learned from Gina. Don't get me wrong but I still do have moments of sadness but now they are not quite so intensive and over whelming like they were last year. Gina didn't have ovarian cancer but she did have other major medical issues in which I had to help take care of her, for her last two years. I can always tell you about that later on, if you ever want to know. Also last year I didn't read any grief books. Some people said they are helpful and recommended one or two but I looked at the library of books I have and Gina's library of all sorts of subjects the last thing I need is more books to read. Anyway I hoped some of this helped as I have to go for now. I'm going to bath the dogs this afternoon. Once again welcome to web healing. Don't be afraid to post anything you may need advice on or help with There are others that come on here that I have found helpful with my posts. Also don't be afraid to respond to others posts if you think sharing things you are going through or things that help you cope or deal with grief can help in the postings of others as well. Also if you wanted to speak to me or anyone else specifically you can click on their name and send them a private messages but for me I only messaged 2 or 3 people I knew were active. Most of my postings have been in the forum because I figured if the person I was communicating with didn't find it helpful, others that come here and read it may get help from it.
