In most of the pictures I have of my Dan before he started kindergarten, he is in overalls paired with either a striped polo shirt or a flannel "work shirt" as Dan called it. The boy had no waist and he could not keep a pair of jeans up for anything. He liked logger boots, I have no idea why, but he would always choose them when it was time to go get new shoes.
He was brown haired brown eyed heartbreaker, everyone loved to see Danny coming because they knew my son was sweet and caring. I have always counted it one of my proudest times, getting to be his mom.

When he began going into kindergarten, he was the only kid in class that wore overalls and logger boots and the other kids teased him about it, called him "Farmer Dan", he made friends with everyone by adopting his nickname, insisted they call him "Farmer Dan" all the time. He even found a book in the library called Farmer Dan, and asked his teacher to read it for story time.

He was so good at turning negatives into positives, I just miss him so much.

Farmer Dan is so beautiful. As a a teacher, I love seeing all the personalities in the kids. They are all so individual even at an early age. I teach middle school now, but have mostly taught Kindergarten and first grade. I love the individualistic children. My boys were like that too.

Especially Michael. He marched to the beat of his own drum. My boys liked to say they weren't sheep, and they weren't. Not that it's bad to follow the crowd. I admit that in some things I've been a sheep, but my boys are individuals and I loved watching them blossom.

Thank you for sharing this. :-)
