"MAKANA LIVES" 07/17/66 - 02/09/04

My friend, Brenda, from Canada, is visiting here with me for 3 weeks and she brought with her a wonderful story which I look at as another special gift.

She works nights and always goes to this little coffee shop in the small town where she lives, she has been going there forever and is getting to know the new fellow behind the counter and so is starting to chat with him when she goes in.  He is a young kid, in his 20’s.

It’s a very SMALL WORLD….here is my gift and part of the letter that he wrote.

“Judy, as it turns out, the wonderful person that is delivering this letter to you has just recently gotten to know me.  I was telling her how I grew up in Costa Rica, one thing led to another and it turns out that we both know you.

We had a good laugh and a bit of a cry talking about dear old Makana.  Everyone misses him, here in Canada and back in Costa Rica. Some of my fondest childhood memories involve him.  He was a great guy with a big heart and kind word for everyone.  I have been thinking a lot about all the people we have lost down there over the years and realized the each and every one of them were great wonderful people that we all knew and loved.”

He goes on to say “I guess there is no better way to honour those who have left us than to live a happy life and keep them in our hearts.”

I have known Aaron for over 13 years and met him as a young boy.  He lost his Mom to cancer this year and she was a remarkable woman, one of the strongest most intelligent women I have ever met, both physically and mentally, and was a huge help to Makana and I.

Brenda shared this when Brent (my son) was here and the 3 of us sat and just cried, but it was a good cry and an honorable cry for the ones that have left us and also for those of us that are missing them.

I am sharing this with you all because we need to know that our kids are thought of, we never know who is thinking of them and who is missing them and who is still loving and honoring them.

Sending strength and love

Judy

It is a small world and to have someone that was with Makana. How wonderful to know that he cares. LaVonne

I got goose bumps reading your post.  I can imagine the crying over this letter but I was again rejuvinated by the thought of how we should honor our loved ones by living a good life in their memory.  Anything less would be dishonorable.

Judy,

How beautiful & wonderful!  It is certainly a small world and it is so important to us to realize that our children touched other lives in so many different ways. What a way to honor & remember them!
