Grief is a shadowy time, where our thoughts get tangled, where there is a sense of unreality, like a dream, where we think that around the next corner we will bump into the loved one who has gone, where we think we see the loved one out of the corner of our eye, and we turn sharply, and they are not there.  Itis a grim sort of twilight zone, in many ways, until the pain wanes somewhat, and the memories become happy ones.

I found these quotes:

""I wear my shadows where they're harder to see, but they follow me everywhere. I guess that should tell me I'm travelling toward light.
Bruce Cockburn ""

I do not say think as I think, but think in my way. Fear no shadows, least of all in that great spectre of personal unhappiness which binds half the world to orthodoxy.
Thomas Huxley

I have come to believe that there are infinite passageways out of the shadows, infinite vehicles to transport us into the light.
Martha Beck

I have spent much of my adult life flinching with pain as I tried to pull out the threads that bound the shadows of my past to me.
Lorna Luft ""

Keep your face always toward the sunshine - and shadows will fall behind you.
Walt Whitman

Life itself is but the shadow of death, and souls departed but the shadows of the living.
Thomas Browne
