My sister, my best friend

I lost my sister October 20, 2008. We were 10 years apart but were as close as twins. We did so much together. We traveled, went to movies, and shopped. My life is so empty without her. I felt so helpless during her last days because I just had to watch her die and couldn't do anything to help her. She was my best friend.
Is there anyone else out there who was far apart in age but so very close in heart to their sibling? The reason I ask is that I know that is something rare. Everyone who knew how far apart in age we were, were so surprised at how close in heart we were.

HI Gail,
I'm so sorry for your loss and that you are hurting so badly. I am the youngest in my family, my brothers are in their 60's and my sister is 52 I am 43. They are still here with us but my sister did practically raise me and I am very very close with her so I do know what you mean by closeness, by no means do I understand your pain right now. I coud not imagine to feel it. and I am so sorry for you. I'm glad you came to this site for support, there are many people here that can help you. There is also alot more activity on the main board if you dont get two many responses here. I am very sorry for you loss and welcome to the site.
Georgia.

Gail08, I am so sorry for the loss of your sister. I lost my oldest sister on 4/25/09. We were 7 years apart. She taught me how to read before I even went to kindergarten. She taught me how to play the piano. Our lives drifted apart for awhile, but we became close again in the past 4 years that she has been ill.

My brother Tony was 11 years older than me, and yes, we were very close, especailly and more so when I was younger, we kind of grew apart when I got older, and then he moved to a different town.
Again, I am so sorry for your loss, keep posting and keep visiting!

I wish I could say that I was closer to my brother, but I wasn't. We eight years apart. You are so very lucky to have spent those special moments with your sister. No one can ever take that away from you. My brother and I were just starting to hang out together more during the few weeks before he died. You had a bond with your sister and that is something that not everyone gets to experience. I hope that you can use to help yourself during this difficult time in your life.
