Hi. I recently lost my father. We found out in mid July that he had terminal cancer which was a terrible shock. He died on 15 October and I took sick leave from work to spend those months until then with him.
It is very difficult to try and cope with my grief and I have made contact with a local Bereavement Counselling Service but am still waiting for an appointment. I've had a few sessions with the Counselling Service we have available at work and I've signed up for a fitness programme. None of it is helping and I don't have a support system in place.
Am feeling really isolated not just because I live on my own but don't feel like I am getting any support from colleagues or so called friends. It's as if they think you lose someone close, have a good cry and then you are back to normal!!Yeah, right. That's all bereavement is!!!
Need to end now but at least I have made a first step at this.

Cazza -

I am so sorry for your loss. You will find that these message boards are full of people that understand exactly what you are going through.  When you are up to it, I would suggest visiting the Main Board.  There are several there that have lost their parent recently as well.

Wishing you peace...
