Hard to let them go...

A friend of mine (who lost her grandson in a freak 4th of July accident last year) gave me this book yesterday.  It has been one of the most profound books I ever read.  I encourage anyone who ever said to themselves "Where was God in all this tragedy"?  "Why did God allow this to happen to my child"? or "Why didn't God stop this from happening, I thought He loved us"?

The story is about a man who lost his daughter to a serial killer.  Life had become meaningless, and for years he lived in what he called "the Great Sadness".  This was his experience...and it can change the way you view things!  Though the story is fiction, the author explains that many of the details did happen.

This was the best glimpse of what the 'other-side' is like that I ever came across.  If any parent wonders how their child is doing after death...READ THIS.  If you wonder how your parent is doing..READ THIS.  There are no grudges, only joy...and love for us who are in this world.

You will need a box of Kleenex..but it is worth the tears. I have found healing in this book.  My prayer is that you will have the same profound experience reading this book.

Letter to Death: Death never looks back to see my tears or how difficult life has become now for me.

I just received and read this book yesterday.  It definately makes one stop and think. My brother was murdered and  I have experienced so many of the emotions that were in this book.  I know what a burden that "the great sadness" is.  I still can't find forgiveness in my heart towards his killer, but after reading this book I can see that that it would be a great benefit to me if I could forgive.

If anyone has lost a loved one in a sudden and tragic way they should read this.  It gives another view to your loss.

I read this book some time back.  Perhaps it helps to address those "whys" that are asked in times of bereavement.

this book was given to me several months ago, when Jim was still alive; my brothers girlfriend had several copies she had gotten at her church, and thought I would like to read it; have not as yet. Went to a few times when she gave it to me; wanting to read it now and can't find it in the house! think it's my short term memory not remembering where I put it, so I'd know where it was when I was ready. have heard it is healing to read and can use anything right now.

Just got the book and read it, couldn't put it down. Thanks so much for telling me about it. I think you told me to read it quite a few months ago. Saw it the other day at the bookstore and read the whole thing. It was wonderful. Thanks Sara. (better late than never huh??)  Donna

I read The Shack, and truly enjoyed reading it.

A very human book.
