We are having trouble with the board sending a welcome to new members after activation of an account. If you have registered your account is likely already activated even if you have yet to receive the welcome email.
Due to these difficulties I am going to change the settings back to automatic registration for a while to enable anyone waiting to be registered to get registered quickly. This will mean that we will have to put up with some spam and spam accounts during this time. We will do our best to keep it to a minimum.
